Breaking Putt C Entry Gates

Most golfers spend too much time staring at the hole, and then putt toward it—after all, that’s where you want to end up. But you have to discipline yourself to focus on the route to the hole, not the hole itself.

On breaking putts, imagine the center of the hole shifted toward the high side. If 6 o’clock is dead center on a straight putt, the center on a left-to-right breaker might be 8 o’clock. When you do look at the hole, picture the new center. You’ll hit more putts on line.

If you still find yourself unconsciously looking at the center of the hole, using a C Entry Gate might help.

The Breaking Putt C Entry Gates, by highlighting the target side of the hole, verifies and improves a player's accuracy in reading the green or anticipating the putting line. It fits over a standard hole cup. It helps players better observe the ball's trajectory, avoid "amateur line" errors, and is portable, making it suitable for indoor and green practice.

A set of three C Entry Gates comes in three colors, corresponding to three different sizes:

Large: White (8.5cm)

Medium: Red (8.1cm)

Small: Yellow (6.8cm).

The smaller the gate, the more difficult it is, requiring stricter control over the angle and speed of the putt. When using these gates, practice with different gates on the same target to achieve greater accuracy.

Unlike conventional putting practice equipment, the C Entry Gates are result-oriented. Players are required to pre-set the position of the C Entry Gate based on their green reading and putting line judgment, then practice putting to verify the result. Through continuous verification and adjustment, players can improve their line reading ability and putting technique.

For straight putts, aligning the gate with the ball and putter creates a miniature hole. With consistent practice, when you remove the C Entry Gate, you'll find that putting becomes easier on a real hole.

For breaking putts, place the entrance gate slightly to the right of the hole for right-breaking shots and slightly to the left for left-breaking shots. Observe the ball's trajectory as you anticipate.

Practicing with a C Entry Gates long-term can correct your habit of aiming at the center of the hole when putting on breaking shots, strengthening your awareness of aiming for the ball on the side of the hole. Furthermore, removing the C Entry Gates not only improves your line reading and putting technique but also makes putting easier on a real hole, as you are essentially practicing on a scaled-down hole.

Additionally, it can be used as a hole-setting tool on busy practice greens when you can't find a target hole.
